Coffee Detective – He really wanted the espresso machine from his local café March 05, 2017 |
The Coffee Detective Newsletter Issue #47 March 2017 Greetings, Something a little different in this issue. Last week I was at a conference in Austin, Texas. At one of the dinners I was sitting next to a fellow who knew all about Coffee Detective and was clearly a fellow coffee geek. He told me an interesting story. There is a small café in the neighborhood where he lives. When it opened they had a small espresso machine, with just one brew head. He fell in love with the design of this small, commercial espresso machine and told the owner that if he ever had to upgrade to a bigger machine, he’d buy this one from him. He kept asking. He left his business card. Over a year passed. Nothing. And then he got the call. He rushed down to the coffee shop, negotiated a price with the owner, and a week later was having the machine plumbed into his kitchen at home. That’s what I call devotion to good espresso! My new friend and I talked some more about coffee, and then I asked him if he could send me a photo of his espresso machine, and write up the story of his quest. I told him I would like to publish it on the Coffee Detective website. He agreed. This was just a few days ago, so I’m still waiting to hear from him. But the experience made me think... I bet there are other people out there with great coffee stories. How about you? Do you have one? If you do... if you have a fun or interesting coffee story and at least one photo to go along with it... I would love to hear from you. Don’t send me the whole story right away. Just write to me at nick@coffeedetective.com with the words Coffee Story in the subject line. Give me a taste of what your story is about. If I think it sounds like something other Coffee Detective readers would like to read, I’ll ask you to write it up and send me the full text and photo. Obviously, I’ll give you full credit for the story. I have no idea if anyone is going to respond to this! Fingers crossed! Best wishes, Nick Nick Usborne
