QUESTION:
My Hamilton Beach percolator is 1 year old.
It used to brew dark coffee - but of late the coffee coming out is very light despite the proper 1 Tablespoon for 1 cup of water, & there is nothing blocking the shaft.
Would love your help in trouble shooting this problem.
Thanks in advance.

ANSWER:
Phil, hi
I don’t know whether it will help, but we have actually reviewed the Hamilton Beach percolator.
Maybe you’ll find the answer there.
That said, I’m wondering if it might be the heating element. There aren’t many things that can go wrong with a percolator. They’re really simple brewers.
With a stovetop percolator there’s pretty much nothing that can go wrong.
And with an electrical perc, the only difference is the healing coil.
If there is a problem with the coil, maybe the water isn’t being heated to a high enough temperature.
And if the water temperature is too low, then you’ll get poor extraction and the light brew you describe.
If you suspect the coil is the problem, you should phone Hamilton Beach customer support and see if they can help.
I hope this helps a little.
Best wishes,
Nick
