How do I make "coffee shots"?

QUESTION:

I am new to wanting to make my own coffee at home like the ones u buy from the coffee shops. I know that it takes shots I was just wondering what machine would I need to get for that.

ANSWER:

There are two principal ways to make coffee.

First, you can buy yourself a coffee maker and make regular cups of coffee, like you would get at a gas station, fast food restaurant or office. The most popular kind of coffee maker for regular coffee is a drip brewer.

You can learn more about this on our best coffee makers page.

The “shots” you talk about, which form the base for drinks like cappuccino and latte, are made in an espresso machine. An espresso machine is quite unlike a regular coffee brewer. So if it’s the espresso shots you want, you’ll need to get an espresso machine.

I hate Turkish coffee. I think it tastes like mud in a cup and boiling the life out of something is not cooking. Do it propely or not at all. Stove top espresso machines are the only way to make real coffee.

Good Coffee can be made in a frying Pan,,,,,

100 years ago coffee was not High Tech

the Turks make great coffee and for a thousand years they cook the coffee with the grinds on a fire......

coffee afficionados and starbuck groupies think that you have to join the coffee aristocracy to make good fine and excellent coffee..

drip is cook
perk is fine
stove top espresso machines are perfect

it is in the beans and the heart, not the machines.....

when I was in peru coffee at home was made as a concentrate with a small amount,, a very small amount of water dripped through the grounds and then later added hot water to it,, it was GREAT!

all you really need is heat, water and a vessel

and the mark of a Great Chef is simply cooking an egg......in a great way.....

can you make a great barbeque over an open fire or do you need a $800 Weber to make great food!
